As a young man, Owen had an interest and natural talent for heavy construction and rigging projects. After school, he worked constructing bridges and soon found his niche in the broadcast tower world. In 1992, Owen began his tower career by working for several experienced tower company owners. Under their leadership, Owen’s skills and knowledge developed, and with his ambition and work ethic he was soon managing large tower projects in the roles of foreman, director of operations, erection supervisor and general superintendent.

Owen’s depth of knowledge and experience spans all of the telecommunications industry.  Specializing in big rigging and tall towers, he has completed all aspects of projects from basic inspection to some of the most challenging tower installations in the country to date.  Having  Working closely and developing great relationships with many broadcast and structural engineers, tower companies, owners, vendors and manufacturers, Owen is recognized throughout the telecommunication and broadcast industry as a tower specialist with vast knowledge and experience and the determination to complete complex construction projects.

In 2016, Owen and Paul Fitts purchased Vertical Technology Services, LLC and have built the company to what is is today.  Based in Hagerstown, Maryland, Owen serves as Chief Executive Officer and oversees every area of the busy tower company. He continues to travel and manage multiple projects, while making time for family and when life gets too crazy….. going fishing.

Since mid 2016, Paul Fitts has been co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of Vertical Technology Services, LLC. With an innate ability to understand tower construction and the natural love of climbing Paul quickly worked his way from a tower technician to Chief Operating Officer of VTS in just 12 years.

Paul’s “tall” tower career started in 2004 at the suggestion of friends who knew he liked rock climbing.  He traveled across the US with some of the best tower companies, while learning the ins and outs of the tower industry. During those years, Paul “did it all” when it comes to tower maintenance and construction including tower erections and modifications, antenna picks, microwave installations, elliptical wave guides, mappings, alignments, lighting, etc.

Highly respected throughout the telecommunication industry, Paul is known for his capacity for
hard work and long hours and the ability to complete extensive tower projects with safety, great skill and on schedule.  He continues to travel with VTS crews and direct tower projects as COO; all while juggling the responsibility of overseeing the operations of VTS.  Paul’s young family keeps him busy when he’s not on the road and whenever possible he finds time to get away by going fishing.
